14 Things to do in Deep Ellum

When I first moved to Dallas, Deep Ellum was the first area that I visited. My roommate and I were looking for things to do in Dallas and I came across the 42 Murals project, which is a project to showcase local artist talent in the Deep Ellum area. We spent a day looking at murals and taking pictures because what more can a girl ask for? Over the past year, I have continuously found myself in Deep Ellum whether it was to hang out with friends for brunch at Stirr or a night out at Independent and OTR.

As a recent Dallasite, I know that it can be difficult to find things to do, so I have compiled a list of some of the things I would do with my friends if they visited Dallas and wanted to check out Deep Ellum. So, hey friends!! I hope you like this list and enjoy your time in the Lone Star State.

Things to Do in Deep Ellum

1. Stirr

Location: 2803 Main St #110, Dallas, TX 75226

Stirr is one of the first places I visited for brunch and, oh my gosh, I felt like I entered my bougie life. My favorite part of this restaurant is the rooftop bar where you can chill with your friends and sip on cocktails. I am not an expert on alcoholic beverages, but I liked the drinks and, so did my friends, so go drink, go drink. They also have really good mimosas for a reasonable price (per my roommate).

3. Independent

Location: 2712 Main St, Dallas, TX 75226

Independent is a bar and restaurant, but on weekend nights it turns into a little club. I recommend Independent because it's one of the nightlife places that consistently has good music from the '90s to the current hip hop, R&B, and rap music. I would estimate that every time I ended up in Deep Ellum, we ended up here at some point throughout the night.

4. Salsa at Vidorra

Location: 2642 Main St, Dallas, TX 75226

On Wednesday, Vidorra host free salsa lessons on their rooftop patio. If you happen to be looking for something to do on Wednesday, this is the place. You won't become a pro with these salsa lessons, but you will learn the basic steps for salsa, merengue, and bachata (fingers crossed). Then you can partake in the cocktails and appetizers, especially the Trompo Street Fries.

6. Picole Pops

Location: 2656 Main Street, Dallas, Texas

You have to stop by Picole Pops to get your alchol infused popsicle. I highly recommend the Mango Margarita popsicle. I loved it because anything with Mango taste good. However, I do think anything on the menu would be a good idea maybe not the Tequila Sunrise, though (not a fan).

7. Bobaddiction

Location: 3014 Main St, Dallas, TX 75226

Bobaddiction will fulfill all of your dessert needs. They have everything from boba tea, mochi rice, to egg waffles. I am most excited about the egg waffle because I have never had one.

8. Pecan Lodge

Location: 2702 Main St, Dallas, TX 75226

It is a barbecue place featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. I have never eaten here personally because there is always a line outside the building, but it is definitely on my wishlist.

9. "I Love You" mural

10. Harlowe MXM

Location: 2823 Main St, Dallas, TX 75226

I noticed this place recently when my parents came to Dallas because they have a rooftop bar.

11. Chills360

Location: 2646 Elm St, Dallas, TX 75226

Rolled ice cream, need I say more?

12. "Sunshine" mural

You have to take a picture with this mural because the colors are vibrant and would look excellent on the 'gram. Hopefully, you go take your picture in the fall because, if you go during the summer you gon' be burning up.

13. Vidorra mural

Location:

I should have added this with Salsa at Vidorra but when you go to Vidorra make sure to take a picture with their mural. Tacos over everything!

14. The Candle Bar

Location: 2649 Main St #170, Dallas, TX 75226

This new storefront is the apple of my eye. Lol, just kidding. It is a place located in Deep Ellum where you can personally create your own candles. This is my first time hearing of this experience and I would recommend it to anyone. To me it is slightly expensive at $40 per candle but I think it is worth it for the hands on experience candle making.

Well, friends I hope that you have some cool plans for your time in Dallas. Definitely let me know what you end up doing.
