Disclaimer: This post was written before Christmas last year but I was too lazy to take the photos needed so here it is now. Don’t hate me. Also. the photos aren’t the best quality but my photography skills will be better soon. Now, to girls night.

It is the holiday season, so what better way to spend your time than with a girls night in. At this point in my life I feel like society would say I am too grown to say sleepover but I still want one so what I do?I call it a Girls Night In. This is a night for you and friends to celebrate each other and take a break from all the frivolous things going on in your life.

I am having Girls Night In during Christmas but a girls night in can happen whenever the mood just feels right. All you need is yourself and your friends to make it happen.

For this Girls Night In,  I want to be a little extra and and step it up from just any other time my friends come over to hang out. I have been watching too many influencers and the cute girls nights they have are my dreams.

This what I am doing to prepare this girls night:

             1. Create personalized invitations

I really want to create a certain atmosphere for this girls night in and make it special. Instead of sending a basic text message inviting my friends to my  house on a Saturday night I opted to send them invites via Paperless Post.

It is free to create invites to send to friends via text and e-mail. Plus, there are many different invite options already created so it is so easy to put your information in and be ready to go. Your friends will be able to let you know if they can attend by RSVPing.

Cost: Free

Time: 10 mins (20 mins. if you are indecisive)

      2. Choose a theme and set the ambiance

My theme is definitely Christmas holiday themed. I want my apartment space to be warm, cozy, and fun. I picture string lights, hot chocolate, and coziness. To find items to decorate the living room space I am going to look at Dollar Tree, Target Dollar spot, and different craft spots to see what I can find on the low.

Must haves:

  • String lights
  • Glittery letters to hang up
  • Blankets (have one and my comforter, can possibly use roommates)
  • Party favors set up around the room for each girl
    • personalized notes (already own cute note cards)
    • candy canes
    • face mask (already have a stock pile)
    • hot chocolate pack

            3. Food

Now, think about what you want your guest to eat. It can be as simple as providing snacks, having a potluck, or ordering food in. This part is completely up to you. I want to purchase the food to appreciate my friends for being such a good support system that has helped me to get through this year.

However as I am providing the food, I am being cognizant to save money where I can. For instance, if you look at my food list I already have some of the items in my closet or pantry such as hot chocolate and milk. Also, candy canes and dessert can be relatively cheap.

  • Hot Chocolate
  • Alcohol
  • Candy canes with appreciation notes
  • Pizza
  • Dessert (red velvet cake)
  • Hershey kisses

             4. Let the fun begin

What activities do you want to provide? The options are endless. Are you going to binge watch Netflix or Hulu? You can have girl talk and some wine. Our plan is to play games and watch a movie.

Turns out it is great that I posted this post after girls night because I did not know how much work it takes to plan a girls night. For a lot of things I waited to the last minute so I was unable to get some of the things I needed. From this I learned if you have a vision of something, write it down, then re access to see if it is feasible and make your plan from there. Give yourself enough time to get all the materials you need.

The area I struggled with the most is the theme because I waited to the last minute to get things . Overall, girls night was a success and I feel like these are the actual steps that helped it to be successful. Now I need to work on making sure I create my vision all the way. Hope these tips gave you some idea about what you want for your event. If you have any, leave your personal tips below.
