I started doing DoorDash two weeks ago and it is turning out to be a pretty easy side hustle.
Note: If you are interested in signing up for DoorDash, sign up through the Rakuten app . You will recieve $50 cashback once you complete your first order. Rakuten is a cashback website that gives you cashback for shopping at your favorite retailers such as H&M, ASOS, etc.
My goal for DoorDash is to make $150 a week. This will total $600 a month. I am using this extra income to pay down my student loan balance . Once I payoff this loan, I can focus on other financial goals such as increasing my retirement contributions and investing.
I am still working on creating a schedule for DoorDash so that I can maximize my time and get the most money. I have DoorDashed every day this week (02/07/2021-02/13/2021). Now, I am trying to figure out what will be the most effective use of my time, so I can reach my other goals.
Today, I just reached my $150 goal but I am still taking more orders. While I was driving today, I realized I am using DoorDash to procrastinate. I noticed that even before today.
Today and throughout the week, I have had things to do, but I pushed them off with the excuse that I need to do DoorDash and make more money. In reality, I am on track to reach my DoorDash goal and I don’t need to take more orders. For me working for others gives me more comfort, because it is a guaranteed income and there is not much room for failure. However, going home and finding passive streams of income scares so I would rather push it to the side.
Now, that I recognize that I am procrastinating. I am going to set some clear boundaries for myself. My plan is DoorDash on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday because it tends to be busier and there are more peak opportunities. This will allow me the other days of the week to focus on my other goals.
Setting goals and boundaries helps me to stay on track. I have implemented tips and tricks to minimize errors in my finances. This is another boundary that I am setting in order to help with my productivity.
